SME Model 20/2A
Introduced in 1992 the Model 20/2A, with its smooth uncoloured sound made it the second in line for the best turntable of all time. Although small in stature it has a big sound stage, and sonically just "disappears" as it, like its big brother, just sounds so natural and "right".
Of paramount importance with all turntables is excellent speed control, so the Model 20/2 uses the same excellent DC motor and power supply as the Model 30/2. It has a lot of the features of its bigger brother, but on a smaller scale, which makes it fantastic value for money. It weighs in at 40lbs (18.2kg) with a platter weight of 10lbs (4.6kg). Extensive use of Isodamp to cut resonances is used in exactly the same way as the M30/2. 8 rubber "O" rings in each corner form the suspension system and a central damping bath assists damping and isolation.
