SME SERIES V "the best pick-up arm in the world".

The SME Series V tone arm has been an outstanding success since it`s introduction over 20 years ago and has become the bench mark that all tone arms are compared to.

Often described as "a work of art" for the quality of its design and finish, this precision tone arm has outstanding naturalness and neutrality. This is particularly revalent when used in conjunction with the top of the range MCS150 Silver internal wiring which we have factory fitted into all new Series V`s. MCS150 costs £122.00 extra, for our prices see table below. MCS150 is fitted instead of the cheaper standard silver wiring for a very cost effective sound quality improvement.

To further enhance the performance of the Series V we replace the standard issue Hybrid audio lead with our own 99.99 Pure Silver lead. It can be terminated with either a straight or the SME right angled connector (Model 30 special also available) and Eichmann Silver Bullet Plugs. This lead in conjunction with the MCS150 Silver internal wiring will allow the "full" performance of this wonderful arm to be heard, revealing a much more open, detailed and totally uncoloured reproduction.

The Series V, uniquely uses a light weight but immensely strong, almost unbreakable one piece magnesium casting for its arm tube. This gives an effective mass of 10/11g, and with the internal damping of the arm tube provides the best possible support for cartridges weighing up to 18g (heavy weight insert required). Precision ball race bearings adjusted to exacting tolerances in both horizontal and vertical planes give excellent rigidity with only the necessary free movement to allow uninhibited tracking and openness of sound. Maximum tracking force is 3g and the gross weight is 720g. To further prove the effectiveness of the magnesium arm tube SME have developed a 12" version for the new 312S tonearm.

The Series V has been available since the end of 1986 and the various small detailed improvements in manufacture have led to a marked improvement in sound quality. We have found the latest versions to be a marked improvement over earlier versions.

Cable options are available with either SME or straight line 5pin Din plugs, some cable options are only available as phono to phono leads for use with factory supplied phono socket kit suitable for all late Model 30/2A & Model 20/2A and the new Model 20/12 turntables, as illustrated.
